Toru Aoki is a professor at Research Institute of Electronics, Faculty of Informatics and Graduate School of Medical Photonics, Shizuoka University. He received his M.S. & Ph.D. in material chemistry & electronic engineering from Shizuoka University. He has over 30 year experience in development of semiconductor films and structures, laser processing of semiconductors, high energy radiation detectors, nanovision science, etc. He has developed a lot of instruments, in particular the X-ray color scanner with multiple energy discrimination capability, two-dimensional CdTe photon counting imager for hard X-rays, photon counting X-ray CT system, field-emitter type CdTe radiation detector, etc. He is responsible for many national and international research projects and attends a large number of scientific institutions and international forums in different countries every year to manage collaborative research. He is a (co)author of over 500 publications (articles, conference abstracts, patents and books).
